Papa's Study

2nd fl Thriftiques has so much more than vintage jewelry, Pyrex and McCoy. In "Papa's study" you will find books, bottles and other fun goodies. The selection is always changing.

Not only are there oodles of skeleton keys, there are vintage locks with keys.

I love these 2 Made in Japan Bears displayed with a 1948 Cub Scout Guide.

This sign would look great nailed on your smelt shack. Hey we live in Maine. The rivers and lakes are frozen .... let the Ice Fishing Derbies begin.

The sign offer some sage advice:
If you wish to be happy for an hour, get intoxicated.
If you wish to be happy for three days, get married.
If you wish to be happy for eight days, kill your pig and eat it.
If you wish to be happy forever, learn to hunt and fish.

The tobacco tins are a favorite.

Bottles are also fun collectibles, especially the local ones.

Casco drinks were produced in Portland Maine and the bottles have great graphics.

Why not make that gift of a tie for Dad or Husband, a vintage tie?

For the space enthusiasts, this great condition 1952 science fiction book is waiting to be read. (The oh-so cute astronaut has just sold)

And, If you are looking for that perfect gift or decorating piece that says, actually screams, that it will be one of a kind ..........

why not take Georgette home? An actual female skull for $50. Wouldn't she look lovely on your living room shelf?

Please be sure stop by for a visit and to say Hi to Georgette. She and I would both love to meet you. Thanks.

Furniture for your Home

You might think that the shop is nothing more than Pyrex and other Kitsch-collectibles. While those are both very popular with our customers, we have been doing a brisk business with our furniture pieces.

This charming chair had seen better days. With a new coat of paint and new cushion, it would make a great addition to any room.

This table also needed some work. The old finish gave it an unappealing dated look. Now with a fresh coat of paint, the details pop out. Ideal for a hallway table or positioned behind the couch, it is priced at $60.00.

This is a beautiful signed print (55/200) titled "Bottenkil Fly Fishing" by local artist William King. Nicely framed and matted, it picks up on the colors of this vignette, black, green and chartreuse.

Although not a Vintage find, it follows the store's mission of repurposed treasures and showcasing original art. $28.00

The chair is $25.00 and the pillows are $6.00 for the pair.

The second framed signed print (6/95) titled "Ducktrap Bridge II" is by Willie Eaton. $25.00.

The shop also has larger pieces that are multifunctional. This 3 drawer chest would be perfect for a Bedroom or in a Nursery repurposed as a changing table...... a piece that could transition from infant through teen years.

Measuring 3 feet wide, 19 inches deep and 35 inches tall, this chest of drawers would work equally as well in the Dining Room as a buffet, suitable for storing silverware and linens.

The 6 gorgeous glass knobs are original to the piece which is priced at $200.

Of course when you think Vintage, a piece like "Nana's kitchen stool" certainly comes to mind. This sturdy stool is $55 and is part of a table set that will soon be up in the shop.

So if you are redecorating your home or looking for furniture for your first apartment, please be sure to pay us a visit. We will be glad to help.

Happy New Year

1993 Annalee Doll

Happy New Year 2011!! New things are arriving each day at the shop. Please stop by and see our treasures, vintage and repurposed.

The calendar year plates have been very popular as anniversary or birthday gifts. We have had several purchased to be used at 50th Wedding Anniversary parties.

At $3.50 a piece, they are cheaper to buy than a greeting card keepsake and more functional.

There is a new display of vintage bar ware. Look at the fun graphics on this Mr. Bartender box. It advertises "One jigger I pour, no less, no more".

One of-a-kind mirrors, clocks and vintage lamps.

Repurposed deer trophy mount turned mirror.

Why buy brand new when you can buy vintage, better made, longer lasting and made in the U.S.A. I look forward to your visit.
