February has been very "Pinkalicious" at the shop. We have put together a large display of pink jewelry, dishes, glassware, vases, linens, and so much more.
Valentine's Day may have been February 14th, but why not celebrate being "Pink" all month long.
Located on the second floor of 8 School Street (above the former Sierra’s Bar & Grill), the 2nd fl Thriftiques Shop features vintage products including collectibles and memorabilia spanning from the roaring 1920’s to the late 1980’s. The shop also has many repurposed treasures which are items artistically reclaimed from vintage pieces.
While the shop is small, I have managed to create displays of many items without appearing cluttered and congested using old photos to represent the various rooms created through my vignettes including ”Mama’s Kitsch’n” with Pyrex and aprons, “Aunt Lu Lu’s Closet” with jewelry, gloves and hats, “Nana’s Pantry” with older pieces like bean pots and blue and white china, and “Papa’s Study” with maps, books, and a Philco Radio from the 1930’s.
Vintage finds are currently popular as the furniture, house-wares in general, clothing, and jewelry of yesteryear, all were better made than what is being mass-produced today. The fact that these items are still available is a testament to their quality. By using the vintage products, fewer items go to our landfills and often less petroleum-based plastics need to be produced. It is an added bonus if that glass happens to be like one your Nana had in her kitchen which brings back happier memories of a simpler time. Unlike proper antiques, which can be rather pricey, vintage items are still very affordable.
Please stop by for a visit and perhaps a trip down memory lane.

I enjoy the thrill of the treasure hunt, whether it is at Goodwill, the flea market or a lawnsale. I love to decorate with and repurpose these treasures. I can't imagine shopping at the mall and at full price. I use my treasures in my home, for my clothing, in the garden and now in my shop 2nd fl Thriftiques. It takes recycling to a whole new level. With my blog, I hope to educate or at the very least entertain my visitors. So come on in, take a seat, and let's chat.
Sherrie I always enjoy your displays! This pink one is a favorite of course! hugs, Linda
